On January 30, 2026, the Class of 1970 gathered to honor classmate Sam Taulli and his legendary coaching career.
A former standout pitcher for the Eagles, Sam spent 50 years coaching baseball—including 38 seasons as head coach at Lafayette High. He retired in 2025 with 800 career wins, a 1978 State Championship, and the Tony Robichaux Award for Ethics. In recognition of his legacy, Lafayette High’s new stadium has been named Sam Taulli Field.
We congratulate Sam on his recent induction into the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame(Opens in a new window). We are proud to call him a Brother Eagle!
